I have a confession

I have to be honest about something.

I didn’t start shopping at Ann Taylor until a few months ago and LOFT until about maybe a year ago. And then yesterday, I bought something from Talbots. A couple of things actually. So I feel the need to confess that I have always stereotyped these stores as ‘old lady’ stores.

How beautiful is this skirt? It fit me like a glove so I knew I had to have it. The colors, the large floral print, the fit – everything about it is perfect. Which leads to another truth – I’m a bargain hunter (which I’m sure you knew about me already) this skirt was $24 after an additional 50% off. I can’t believe the quality I’m getting for the price I’m paying!

Penny Pincher Fashion posted a blog yesterday about being new to the blogger world and the wonderful women out there who have embraced her new blog – and she included ME among three other fabulous women. Being new to blogging myself, I’m so extremely touched and humbled by her sweet post. We are definitely on the same wavelength because I have also been doing some thinking about the connections I’ve made because of blogging and tweeting. I’ve blogged and put myself out there before, but never in the way that I’ve done with My Dressy Ways. It’s only been about two months since I made a real commitment to blogging and I’ve found it to be incredibly rewarding because of the friends I’ve made. I just can’t say it as beautifully as she did! She really took the words out of my mouth and did such a great job with the post – so please, go check it out. And while you’re there, check out her blog too if you haven’t been on there already. She is gorgeous, smart, thrifty and has phenomenal taste, my kind of gal!

Wearing: Casual in my Loft blouse

I was inspired by The Looks For Less and Real Girl Glam who also wore breezy summer blouses last week when I put together this casual look. I paired it with jeans for work, although I really wanted to pair it with shorts.

I’m only wearing one of my Jewelmint Encore Necklaces. This set comes with two necklaces and both necklaces have a tassel, but the one with the gold chain tassel came apart when I wore it. I was so upset since that was my favorite part of the set. There was some glue holding the gold tassels together, but it just didn’t catch each chain so it fell apart. I contacted their customer service when this happened and the gave me a full credit and let me keep the set. It was quick and easy! But I am still a bit sad about it falling apart. This was my first piece of Jewelmint jewelry and I’m still on the fence about a July piece. Have you picked out your July piece yet? What did you get?

My LOFT sale item picks!

UPDATE:  Every first Tuesday of the month, cardholders get an additional 10% off. That’s TODAY ladies!

I noticed this necklace in my Shop It To Me email today.

Briolette Necklace with Ribbon Ties

It’s only $3.42 after an additional 30% discount! That is an amazing price for a LOFT necklace. I had to do a double take and add it to my cart to be sure the price was correct, and it seems that it is. Thought it was odd that I had to select a size for this necklace, and on the page, the third photo is of a different necklace, so some errors that the LOFT team must not have caught?

I also checked out some of their Final Sale items and saw this dress.

Petite Embellished Linen Sheath Dress

I tried this on in-store awhile back and I loved it.

I love the bead and sequin detailing on the neckline of this dress.

After the 30% discount, you pay $27.99 (it was $89).

Loft Stripe Ruffle Tier Tank

Also love this top. Ruffles AND stripes? Love. $20.99 after discount.

I’m tempted to stop in the store to see what else has gone Final Sale. I’ve picked up several great pieces this way. A camel colored blazer for less than $15 is an example. I can’t wait to wear it in the fall!

I didn’t do any shopping over the weekend, although I was tempted to since Forever21 had a 10% discount and free shipping on orders over $50. Did you go shopping? Get any great deals?

Details, details:

This tank top in Dusty Rose was my attempt to add some color to my wardrobe! Something brighter than the usual taupe, olive, gray, brown and black that I’m consistently drawn to. But get this, I also just bought a new dress in a similar color. Do you ever notice that once you buy one item, similar items or colors seem to follow? Kind of like when you’re thinking about buying a new car, every car that passes you happens to be the car you’re wanting to buy? Hmmm.

A note about the shoes. These actually have a skinny and short wedge heel that I find a little hard to walk in. I was pretty sure I was going to sprain my ankles yesterday. These are far more dangerous than my four inch heels!

And that shrub that looks like it’s dying, we just replanted it over the weekend. My husband usually takes care of all the landscaping/outdoors ‘stuff’ but I hardly see him anymore so I thought I’d head out there with him so we could spend some together. Fun, right? 😀 I’m worried that the shrubs we replanted are going to die – because every plant I touch dies – but he assures me they’ll be ok. We’ll see. I’m a bit nervous at this point.

Outfit Post: Olive Loft Steal

I got this blouse from LOFT for…less than eight bucks. Can you believe it? I also picked it up in a blush color for the same price.  Love a good deal!

  • LOFT blouse
  • New York & Company skinny pants
  • Banana Republic Outlet gold cuff
  • American Eagle gold watch
  • random gold bangle
  • Charlotte Russe ring
  • Forever21 necklace
  • Headband from Target dollar bin

I wish I’d picked up an extra pair (or two) of these skinny pants because they fit perfect and it’s so hard to come by a pair of good black skinny pants!

I have to say something about the headband – I have a big head so hats, sunglasses and headbands are not easy for me to shop for, nor do I ever order any online. I’ve worn headbands before that give me headaches because they’re too tight. I found this one in the dollar bin at Target (it came in a set of two) and picked up a couple packs. I like them because they’re skinny and very, very flexible so they fit my large noggin comfortably. So if you’re like me, and have a large noggin, hop into Target because they’re out now!

Got the hairdo idea from Wendy at Wendy’s Lookbook, if you haven’t hopped on her blog or YouTube channel, go check her out. She has phenomenal style as well as a fun personality.
