(My FIRST!) Video Tutorial: A Night Out Smokey Eye Look

smokey eye tutorial, nude lipstick, NYX Pumpkin Pie, nude gloss, night out makeup look

I tweeted a similar a couple weeks ago when I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had some requests to do a tutorial on this look. This is a dramatic and glamorous look that I only wear when I’m going out with my friends at night. I have never attempted a YouTube tutorial but I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get My Dressy Ways out on YouTubeland!

Enter to Win: Revlon Lip Butter and Colorstay Nail Polishes

I’m loving the new Revlon products, the Lip Butters and the Colorstay Nail Polish, so I want to give some away!

Revlon Lip Butter, Raspberry Pie, Revlon Colorstay nail Polish

This giveaway includes one Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie (a beautiful bright fuchsia color – see it on me here) and Revlon Colorstay nail polish in Sequin, Indigo Night and Marmalade as pictured. Sequin is a silver foil that looks like it might be a dupe for Zoya Trixie which I have and love. This new formula is suppose to have a gel like shine that will last up to 11 days without chipping. Mine didn’t last quite that long when I wore it, but I also didn’t use the basecoat and topcoat that Revlon recommends. However, it did last for three days with no chipping – far longer than others I’ve tried. For those of you with time and creativity, all three of these would make a great mani together!

Get ready for spring (or wear them now, I wouldn’t blame you) with this giveaway!

For Hair That’s Hard to Curl: Hot Tools Curling Iron

Folica.com is having a $10 off $20 sale TODAY only with the code CUPID.

This is the site where I recently purchased my Hot Tools curling iron. I’ve dedicated a couple posts to my hair woes – among them, how hard it is for my hair to stay curled. Imagine taking the time to curl your hair with a curling iron or rollers, only to find it all falls flat in less than an hour.  Frustrating. That all changed when I bought my Hot Tools iron. (I have this one in a one inch barrel.)

It’s what I’ve used to create these looks, using this technique.

When I published this last post about my hair, I talked about my Hot Tools curler as well as the products I use to help the curls stay – since then, I’ve switched out some of the products and have found that my curls still have great staying power. The one constant has been my curler.  I’ve been growing out my hair in hopes of curling it – and am so happy that I’m able to curl it now and it lasts all day.

I recently became an Elite Folica member – I have NO idea how. I’ve tried to figure it out myself, but all I got was an email welcoming me to the program. It means I get free shipping, which is AWESOME. (Folica also offers free shipping for orders over $50.) I’m thinking about purchasing a larger barrel curling iron for looser waves.

If you’re NOT in the market for a curling iron, Folica also carries blow dryers (trade your old hair dryer in for $40 off a professional dryer over $80), flat irons, brushes, combs, manicure and pedicure implements and much, much more.

Here are some other items to consider:

Spornette Italian Boar Rounder

Blue Cross Cuticle Remover

Oscar Blandi Dry Styling Heat Protect Spray

Thank you – by way of Urban Decay Naked giveaway

It goes without saying that I would not be here if it weren’t for you. I had tried blogging prior to starting My Dressy Ways but it wasn’t until I decided to just “go ahead with the outfit posts already!” that I found my blog’s true voice. I worried about having yet another personal style blog, but as the months went by, I found that my blog DID resonate with readers out there! I am constantly encouraged by my fellow bloggers, twitter friends and my readers.

Hair products for hard to curl hair

I have MAJOR hair woes. Like. Major. But one of the main issues with my hair is that it is super fine and VERY hard to curl. I’ve tried different kinds of products from drug store to professional (for free thanks to my sis-in-law who works for a salon supplies distributor) and have finally found a few products that work well for my hair. Some of these are recent finds too! Here are my go-to products when I want to wear my hair curly.
